iUniverse author Mingo Moran discusses his new book, Lust, Love, and Combustion.
Please briefly describe your book . . .
Lust, Love, and Combustion: A book staged in the 80’s and 90’s about an innovative hard working heavy equipment mechanic that is convinced that a Twin Turbo Big Block Altered drag car will set the world on fire. Along the way, he meets the love of his life and they start a lusty love affair which may lead to a permanent relationship.
Did you have any particular inspirations?
I actually tried building this car in the 80’s but ran out of money. In the book, a sponsor appears and they don’t run out of money. I traveled the world for my job and decided during the long hours in airports and strange motels to write the book. The current success of Turbocharged drag racing spurred me to finish it.
What is the one message you would like to convey to your readers?
Just write from your heart and edit later.
Are there any events, marketing ideas or promotions planned for your book?
Just hit Amazon. I am working on a Website using Godaddy. I have a Facebook page reserved and working with CarCraft on an add coming out this summer. I also plan selective distribution of my copies of the book to start word of mouth.
Are you working on a sequel?
Yes, I have started a sequel so the story will be fresh. I will finish it if the book takes off.
What was your favorite part of your publishing experience?
See the book on Amazon made my heart skip a beat.
Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Stick it out. Not easy to do. Write from the heart and be bold. Edit the content after brainstorm writing. The parts of the book that I thought would be too steamy are the parts I am getting the best feedback on. Check out other resources such as FFiver.com for help.
