iUniverse author Angela Ozar provides some crucial guidance on managing your money in her new book, Close Your Tab & Don’t Look Back.
Please briefly describe your book . . .
My book, Close Your Tab & Don’t Look Back, is a quick and entertaining read on how to understand student loans, and a provides a method to pay them off quickly. Not only does it translate personal finance concepts in a way that’s easy and fun to learn, but is also a lively and humorous take on the jump from college to career.
And can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a proud Michigander that secretly likes living in Ohio. When I’m not writing, I live to be outdoors and seeing the world. I never planned on being an author until I found something to write about, and how I could help other people.
Do you have any particular literary influences?
I was inspired to provide a solution for paying off student loan debt by sharing my experience, after talking to many women who couldn’t start businesses because of their debt. I want others to have the same opportunities being debt-free has allowed me; and it’s why I am so passionate about sharing this message with women coming out of college with debt.
What is the one message you would like to convey to your readers?
I want readers to be encouraged and confident managing their money after school. They aren’t just another statistic; they can overcome financial obstacles and enjoy their life!
Are you working on a sequel to your book?
Yes! The sequel will be on investing for retirement. It is so important for today’s younger generation to be financially prepared for the future. Statistics show we are failing at this. First, we need to educate them on how to pay off student loans (which my first book addresses). Secondly, we need them to take advantage of their youth by investing aggressively for retirement in their early twenties. When these concepts and the urgency of them are explained in a way that engages and activates the younger generation; I think the results will be powerful.
What was your favorite part of your publishing experience, overall and with iUniverse?
My favorite part was getting the feedback from the literary critic in my genre. The feedback offered me great advice to make my manuscript better and encouraged me that I accomplished what I set out to write.
Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Hang in there! It’s a hard journey, but it’s worth it to see the completion of your creation! You’ll never know what impact your work will have on someone’s life if you don’t publish it.
