Kelly Rose Saccone and her new book, “Gift of Dreams”

Kelly Rose Saccone tells us about Gift of Dreams, a combination of suspense and romance and the first installment in her Black Falls series.

Please briefly describe your book . . .

Gift of Dreams is a suspense romance with a touch of the paranormal.  It’s a cross between a Jayne Ann Krentz Arcane Novels and Kay Hooper’s Bishop Novels.

Synopsis – Born into a family of women who are gifted, Wynter Malone has been scarred for being different.  Now she dreams of a sinfully sexy man.

Attorney, Rafe Wolf has recently moved to Black Falls to be closer to family and for a new start.  Only, dreams that he has repressed for most of his adult life are re-emerging.  He meets the woman who is haunting his dreams and sparks fly.

When children are kidnapped, Wynter is called in to help, only to go missing herself.  Rafe must overcome his fear of his own gift or all will be lost.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I didn’t start writing until a few years ago.  I was unemployed and decided to go back to school.  I received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree.  It was during this time that I discovered a talent for writing poetry, and this gave me the courage to pursue my masters in creative writing.  I am an avid reader and my novels so far are books that I would enjoy reading.  I am happily married, live in Florida, and really hope to be a successful writer.

Do you have any particular literary influences?

When I was a pre-teen I fell ill and was out of school for three months.  A friend of the family gave me books to read.  The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen E. Woodwiss, as well as the Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart.  I loved the Once and Future King.  Romance and magic.  I love historical romance as well.  Laurie McBain led to my love of poetry as she would start each chapter with a stanza from a poem.  My favorite authors, Julie Garwood, Linda Howard, Elizabeth Lowell, Jane Ann Krentz, Christine Feehan, Anne Bishop, and so many more have helped shape the genre and style of writing that I enjoy and that I feel is reflected in my novel.  What inspired me to write was a writing class.  I enjoyed bringing characters to life and telling their story.

What is the message you would like to convey to your readers?

The message I guess would be that dreams can and do come true.

Are you working on a sequel to your novel?

Yes I am.  I call my series the Black Falls series.  I have definitely three stories to tell.  The first being Gift of Dreams.  I hope more will come. I am also writing a self-help book.

Are there any events, marketing ideas or promotions planned for your book?

I am new to the publishing business.  I know my book will be available on amazon, hopefully good reads, Barnes and noble.  I have been advised that I should go to libraries and see about getting my book out there.  I want to create a web site and I will put links out on Facebook, and google plus.

As for accolades, my husband has read my novel and given it his stamp of approval. He is not a reader, so I feel coming from him it is high praise indeed.

What was your favorite part of your publishing experience, overall, and with I Universe?

I really enjoyed the process of seeing the cover I chose, as well seeing how the chapters would look.  The whole process was exciting and a great learning experience.

What advice would I give to aspiring authors?

As I said to my readers, dreams can and do come true. If you want to write, then just do it.  There is such satisfaction in completing a novel.  My book is still in the process of being published and I don’t have success yet, but I know, for me, that I will keep writing as I love it and I hope that I will find an audience who will enjoy my books. I would love to give the joy, comfort, and learning experience that I received from my favorite writers; another world in which they can escape.
