Poet Tammy Spears discusses new her collection, “Flutter of an Eye”

iUniverse poet Tammy Spears tells us about her new poetry collection, Flutter of an Eye, and her inspirations for writing!

My name is Tammy Spears and I am the Author of Flutter of an Eye, a poetry collection.  I have been married to my high school sweetheart John for 31 years, soon to be 32 years on May 16, 2018.  We have a cocker spaniel named Brooklyn, a.k.a. “Brooksie”.  I have been blessed with 2 sisters whom I adore and love and they have blessed me with 3 nephews and 1 niece who have blessed me with 3 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces whom I adore and love.  I also have another niece by marriage who has also blessed me with 2 great nephews and 1 great-niece that I adore and love as well.

I am an Administrative Assistant for a local Law Firm.  My passion is writing, crafting, and volunteering my time for various organizations giving back to the community.

I felt compelled to write a poetry book in memory of my Mother Diana Hullings who passed away at a young age of 61 from lung cancer. I have been writing poetry in her memory and submitting it to the local newspaper for print every year since her death in 2007 and decided it was time to dedicate a book on the 10th anniversary of her passing. My mother was and still is my inspiration in life and I wanted to dedicate my book of poetry in her memory. I also wanted to share my poetry with my family and everyone else to be inspired as well. I hope the poetry will touch your heart and soul as it did when I was writing it.

My book of poetry contains inspirational poems of love for a Mother and a Mother’s love, blessings in life, love of family, love to share, God’s gifts and blessings, honoring the military, life experiences, seasons of change, memories of the past, present and future, remembrance of a loved one, reminiscing and cherishing precious time, and love of a child and spouse.

The one message I would like to convey to my readers is to Cherish Life and the many Blessings God sends your way! Dream-Dream-Dream you can make your dreams a Reality!  This was taken from one of my poems in the book “Dream”.

I am working on a sequel to my Flutter of an Eye poetry book as well for all to continue to enjoy.

I do have plans to market my book on social media myself as well as through friends and family along with contacting the local Libraries and Book Stores to carry my book as well.  I have plans for a business venture as well to incorporate my poetry in the very near future.

My favorite part of the Publishing experience with iUniverse was the excitement and encouragement that was given to me from the very beginning that I had what it takes to be an Author and Poet which was carried throughout the entire Publishing process.  iUniverse was always willing to offer their expert advice when I needed direction on which route to take when in question.

My advice to aspiring Authors would be to pursue your writing as an Author if it is a passion and make your “Dream” come to light!
