iUniverse Footnotes August 2013 Author Challenge

Words, like spectacles, tend to blur anything they don’t clearly focus. Reading enthusiasts will confirm that reading something that is drowned by adverbs, adjectives and non relevant content is a tiresome experience. Brevity and concision are imperatives for a writer. Thus this month’s iUniverse author challenge is devoted to this notion of precision in the form of a ‘drabble’. Whether you are an established writer or you are yet to a pen a sentence, this challenge is for you.

This months’ challenge will be a 100 word fictional story (a Drabble).

To improve your chances of winning, we will be looking for clear, clean content with a sense of originality and creativity. Use your imagination to transcend traditional ideas into meaningful, unique ideas and interpretations.

We don’t expect it to be exactly 100 words, anywhere between 90-110 will suffice.

The Prize

The winner will be announced on the iUniverse official blog and via our Facebook and Twitter accounts and have their book cover featured as our official Facebook Cover Image for up to a month.

Challenge Rules

1. Entrants must be aged 18 or over at the time of entering.
2. Entries must be received before midnight (EST) or 5:00 pm (GMT) on 30^th September, 2013.
3. Only entries added as a comment to the dedicated challenge post on the iUniverse blog will be considered.
4. Only one entry per person will be permitted.
5. The winner will be chosen by a judging panel of three iUniverse marketing department employees. Their decision is final.
6. The winner’s book cover will be featured on the official iUniverse Facebook Page for up to one month.
7. By entering, you agree that your name, published book title and entry can be used by iUniverse for marketing and PR of this challenge as well as iUniverse as a company.
8. We will not be held responsible for any entries that are not recorded on the blog due to technical difficulties.
9. No Purchase Necessary.
10. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.
