iUniverse author J.L. Jensen talks about her new children’s book, Furry High.
Please briefly describe your book…
My book consists of a collection of short stories that follow anthropomorphic animals through their daily life at school.
And can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am currently enrolled in college, and I am pursuing an Associate of Arts Degree.
Do you have any particular literary influences?
The particular literary influences that have helped me develop in my genre, subject, and style would be the required reading that I had in school. I say that because those books showed me how good books were written, and I wanted to write a good book. What inspired me to write my book is the support I received from my friends and family. They love my stories, so I was inspired to turn those stories into a book.
What is one message you would like to convey to your readers?
One message I would like to convey to my readers is that you can learn from your mistakes.
Are you working on a sequel to your book?
Yes.
Are there any events, marketing ideas, or promotions planned for your book?
I am planning on having my book sold at school book fairs since it’s a kid’s book, and I plan to sell my book at local conventions.
What was your favorite part of your publishing experience, overall, and with iUniverse?
I would have to say that my favorite part was when I was notified that my book was published.
Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring authors?
If you see an opportunity, then take it because you never know where it will take you.
